A few weeks I know till this our first show of the year, but thought worth getting things rolling so you all can make plans etc.

This will be or second year attending this event, and what a great event it is ! As if all the car displays aren't enough you also have the whole of the IWM Duxford site to take in.

I have booked us in with Vickie at IWM, and have asked for 10 spaces as last year. There is a £10 per person charge to display, but a mentioned this gets you full access to the whole site. A good saving over the usual entrance fee. Last year there was a request that cars on display stayed until at least 3pm. I would guess that this will apply again this year.

At this stage give it some thought and let me know if you what to attend as part of the FCCC display. I will have more details nearer the time.

Ta.

I'd like to go to this. I'm not sure which car - choice of Laguna Coupé or R5GTT.
It'll be the R5 if its proving reliable after its extended rest and running gear rebuild.

Regards,
Steve

Would be good to have the R5 along Steve. Either way your on the list.

Talking of list, a very good start :

Myself........Corvette C5
Peter..........Corvette or Holden or Monaro
Steve.........R5 or Laguna
Steve.........Lotus Esprit V8
Kevin.........Viper
Greg..........TransAm ?
Stordy.......M3
Toffer........TVR Griffith 500

Maybe another Viper as well...watch this space.

That's over half the places filled !  No sign of any noisy Northern plastic cars yet !    lol!

Correction.....first Northern plastic car added.

Steve,

Last year we met here :

Pampisford Services on roundabout of A505 and A1301

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Pampisford++Cambridge+CB2+4HD&hl=en&sll=52.108456,0.187883&sspn=0.022008,0.055747&t=h&hq=CB2+4HD&hnear=Pampisford,+Cambridgeshire,+United+Kingdom&z=16

It did get very crowded as other groups seemed to have the same idea ! I'll give a bit of thought in the next week or so and send an email around about a week before the show as well as posting up on here.

How's the R5 turbo coming along ?

Hello Ian,

There's been a bit of an haitus in the progress of this resto of late. It has been
slowed up because of the state of the cooling system. The existing rad was
totally knackered, way beyond its initial presentation.

Then it came to removing the water pump. After a bit of a clean on the outside,
it didn't look too bad...

However, it was a bit of a fight to get it off without breaking bolts, and in the end
just one broke. That was simply down to Karl's patience, there should have been
more than one. Anyway, here's the reason...

So, it has come down to seeing just how much residue can be removed from the
rest of the cooling system. I ordered some Bars powder, which can be mixed up
with boiling water once the crystals have been dissolved. One other benefit being
that you can regulate the strength of the mixture.

Otherwise, all the pipework has been cleaned, the carb has been refitted and some
progress made toward getting the car started. Hopefully, that should happen by
the end of next week.

I'll be bringing the Laguna Coupé to Duxford. I'm really looking forward to it, it's
a good start to the show season!

Regards,
Steve

Well with a week and a half to go I now have the required info from Vickie at Duxford IWM, so here's the meet up details for you.

RV Point :

The Comfort Cafe ( http://www.comfortcafe.co.uk/ ) just off the junction of the A11 and A1307. Good breakie to be had here if your there early enough.

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=The+Comfort+Cafe&ie=UTF-8&ei=9ZZWU9DfMM2rhQfolIGABQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ

RV time :

Gates open at Duxford at 9.30am. Can't see the point of getting there then as it it will be a nightmare. If we aim to meet at above at 10.00am and aim to leave at 10.15am. It's only a very short run to Duxford so will be in around 11am. We must be in place by 12 noon.

We go in via gate 1 (furthest away from M11). Don't forget, it's £10 each on the gate.

We have 14 cars booked with me for the stand as below :

Myself........Corvette C5
Peter..........Corvette or Holden or Monaro
Steve.........R5 or Laguna
Steve.........Lotus Esprit V8
Kevin.........Viper
Greg..........TransAm ?
Stordy.......BMW M3
Toffer........TVR Griffith 500
Phil ...........TVR Griffith 400 Precat
Colin..........TVR Tamora
Steve M......Aston V8 Vantage
Jim………….Camaro
Richard……Cobra
Paul………..TVR of some shape !

Well that's it. Just hope for great weather like last year.

I,ve contacted The Comfort Cafe to let them know of our RV on Sunday, and they are very happy to have us along. So why not get there a little early and grab some breakie before we set off.

Hopefully I'll be there for about 9.30.
