You'll need breakdown cover in case a wheel falls off.

Does your insurance cover Europe? If not you might need a Green Card. Make sure you take MOT cert, driving licence etc.

We might want to have a think about our route down on the 4th as the Tour de France is in Rouen:

That's a bit inconsiderate of them. lol!

Looking at the timings we may be okay, but certainly worth thinking about a possible detour.

Anyone else feel a bit 'weird' this weekend for not being at Le Man's ?

On the upside

ONLY 19 DAYS TILL WE LEAVE FOR THE CLASSIC

Following up Jim's text.

I think that avoiding Rouen on the way down is sensible - the Tour de France will be getting there at about the time we would and I wouldn't be surprised if they closed roads.

An alternative is therefore to take the A1 to Paris and then A11 to Le Mans. Google maps reckons it's only about 20 minutes longer (though does mean going through Paris!).

Going via Reims would add about an hour to the journey (plus however long we stopped there).

Getting excited now, nearly there. gonna watch Le Mans via internet and sky tv. will be bit weird.

thought route via the old gp pits will help avoid the Tour bikes, but not sure what time we due into the camp site and dont want to miss tea and beers on 1st night.

Euros next week as they seem to be best price for years.

As a passenger this year I'm happy to go whatever way you drivers choose. I think going though Paris would be a big no, no though. Surely there must be a bypass around it some how ?

Sounds like a plan Jim. Just taken the mansion down after a couple of days airing in the sun, so nearly ready to go now.

I'm liking the look of this : http://www.accuweather.com/en/fr/le-mans/135975/july-weather/135975?monyr=7/1/2012

Lets hope they are right. Would be nice for it not to rain for once !
